New Report Claims 3.1% Growth in Freight Forwarding Market is Greatly Misleading

Transport Intelligence, the leading logistics research and consultancy specialists, have published a new report which reveals the full extent of the increasing divergence between the air and sea freight forwarding markets.
Although the overall market grew by 3.1% to $125.85bn in 2012, Ti's new report, Global Freight Forwarding 2013, suggests this figure is misleading as the positive growth was entirely attributed to the sea freight sector. Freight Forwarding industry News

In a move which many in the freight and supply chain, not to say regulatory agencies, will view with some surprise, if not perhaps suspicion, the big three box carriers, Maersk, MSC and CMA CGM, have launched a ‘long term alliance’ which will see them combine their individual container shipping services into a rationalised set of routings on all the major East – West trade lanes across Asia – Europe, Trans-Pacific and Trans-Atlantic to be called the P3 Network. Freight Forwarding

A freight forwarding company like us do not necessarily transport freight or cargo ourselves, but most freight forwarders organise the shipments for businesses or individuals. This means that the freight forwarder will contract a carrier to help facilitate the movement of the goods. When freight is being transported it can be done by air, sea and road. Sometimes only one of these freight shipping methods might be used but it is not unusual if multiple forwarding methods are used in the transportation of freight and cargo. Visit our website to find out more about freight forwarding and the methods we offer.

Freight Forwarding and More

Freight forwarding can be done in a number of ways. Firstly, one of the favoured methods of freight forwarding is air freight shipping. This is because this is the quickest method of freight forwarding available. Secondly, sea freight shipping is another popular method, and if the quantity of goods being shipped is large then this method is often best, as ships generally have a larger capacity than aeroplanes. The other type of freight forwarding is done by road, which is only really used when freight is being transported inland. To find out more visit KMB.

Freight Forwarding – What is it?

What is freight forwarding? This is a popular question that I get asked by many people, from all different walks of life. Well I am going to answer that question here on our blog. Freight forwarding is basically the shipment of goods or cargo from one destination to another. Freight can be forwarded or shipped by sea, road or air. A freight forwarder is often known and looked at as a travel agent in the cargo industry. At KMB Shipping we provide a range of freight shipping services and have done so for over 12 years.
